New Delhi/Islamabad/Washington, May 17, 2025 — In the wake of the recent India-Pakistan ceasefire, the Government of India has announced the formation of seven all-party delegations tasked with taking the country's message against terrorism to key partner nations across Europe, West Asia, and Africa. According to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, outreach to senior leaders from both the Opposition and the ruling NDA has been fruitful, with several figures agreeing to join the diplomatic mission.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed partial credit for the de-escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbours. Speaking to Fox News on Friday, Trump said, “This is a bigger success than I’ll ever be given credit for. Those are major nuclear powers, and they were angry. Tensions got to a point where the next phase was probably nuclear.”

On the same evening, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed a gathering on Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Thanks), calling on India to resolve issues through dialogue. “We’ve fought three wars and achieved nothing. It's time to sit at the table like peaceful neighbours,” Sharif said, reiterating the call for discussions on long-standing issues, including Kashmir.

The diplomatic push from New Delhi and parallel messaging from Islamabad indicate a fragile yet hopeful pause in hostilities, with global stakeholders closely watching the next steps.
